If you have had a heart attack and are a diabetic and have taken Avandia how do you know if its from the drug?

My husband took Avandia 2003-2005 then took Januvia for a year. He recently had a heart attack and needed a quadruple bypass surgery within a few days. How would we know if its linked to his history with the drug Avandia from his past?
