I fractured my ankle last year , other then a brace what could be done ?

Last june i fractured my ankle and i didnt find out until 2 weeks ago . My foot doctor has me in a lace up brace because my foot naturally goes to the side and doesnt stay straight when i am sitting down . However the brace doesnt do anything ! Is there a possibly surgery to keep my ankle straigh ?
